Philippines SIM Card Registration: How Do I Register?

December 27, 2022 and 180 days after are the important dates to remember to abide by this law.

On October 10, 2022, Philippines President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. signed Republic Act No. 11934, or the SIM Card Registration Act into law.

Basically, this law requires every person availing of a mobile SIM card with any of the telcos to register their SIM card. Read the passed law and its provisions here. It requires registration to be done within one hundred eighty (180) days starting December 27, 2022.

The Philippine telcos — Globe, Smart, DITO, etc. are required to establish processes including an online registration facility or website to facilitate the processes required by law.

What kind of subscriber are you?

So given the law, what now? You first need to check what type of subscriber you are. Are you a postpaid, prepaid, or corporate/institutional mobile subscriber? The answer to this will determine how to proceed to comply with the law.

If you are a minor, below 18 years old, you will need to have your SIM card registered by your parent or legal guardian.

If you purchase a new SIM card after December 27, 2022, you will be required to register right away in order to activate your SIM card.

Check with your mobile telco subscriber on how to proceed with SIM card registration given your subscriber type. Below are some of the processes we’ve managed to collect.

For Globe Subscribers

In an official facebook post, Globe advised that existing Postpaid and Globe Platinum subscribers are already pre-registered. Therefore, Prepaid Globe customers will need to proceed to https://www.globe.com.ph/register-sim-card.html.
