Starlink PH is Here

SpaceX's Starlink service has secured its first operational milestone in the Philippines with its Certificate of Registration as a Value-Added Service Provider.

This marks its formal entry into the Philippines and it would be very safe to say “Starlink PH” is here.

Starlink Secures NTC Permit

On May 26, 2022 the National Telecommunications Comission (NTC) granted a Certificate of Registration (COR) to the SpaceX service, approving it as a Value-Added Service (VAS) provider. We can see that they’ve setup shop in the Philippines formally under the name of “Starlink Internet Services Philippines, Inc.” and with an office address at 2F AGS Building, 446 EDSA, Makati City.

The COR allows Starlink to provide Internet Access Service through Satellite Service until April 2023, use an internet service spectrum, and build and operate broadband facilities in relation to their internet service provision.

According to the PNA, SpaceX’s counsel, lawyer Bien Marquez thanked the NTC for its speedy action since the regulator took only thirty minutes to issue its license after their complete submission of registration and requirements.

What’s Next?

Now that Starlink PH is official in terms of securing a service license, we wait and see for it to setup terrestrial gateways across the islands that would link to the low-earth orbit (LEO) satellites.
